The views expressed here are my own and do not necessarily reflect the views of Aerys Sports.

Steph is a 2011 graduate of Gettysburg College (majored in history, minored in Civil War Era studies) and current graduate student at Pratt Institute (library science with a focus in Archival Studies) who loves baseball, anime, writing, drawing, Rogue Squadron, cars (and Top Gear), comedy (especially its history and, naturally, the British variety) and her cats and Old English Sheepdogs. Fond of Stanford even though she doesn't go there. Has Asperger's syndrome, a mild form of autism. Created the 30-Day Baseball Meme. One time she made a music video about Buster Keaton's love affair with trains. Since she's an archivist-in-training, she often preserves things on her own. See her scans here.

Author of the webcomic The Historians, the excuse to draw dead comedians called Comedian Heaven, and Londinium, a novel in the making set in 1863 London. Scriptwriter for the webcomic Home By Now, a story about time travel, music, history and general hijinks (meet the incredible artist here!).

Very occasionally posts about herself when she's not posting about baseball, dead people, Top Gear or her pets.

As many of you have seen, I’ve started designing magical girl outfits for classic Hollywood actresses and performers. So far, I’ve finished the following:

As you can see, that’s only five people total. However, that’s where you all come in - this is an open project now, so everyone can draw any classic Hollywood actress or performer who hasn’t been drawn yet! You can also add to the list at any time.

The current list of people who haven’t had their outfits designed (minus the comediennes, who I’ll take care of as part of a silly short for Comedian Heaven that I’m working on):

  • Marlene Dietrich (claimed by snarkinfestedwaters)
  • Greta Garbo
  • Mae Marsh
  • Katharine Hepburn
  • Hedy Lamarr
  • Theda Bara
  • Jobyna Ralston
  • Josephine Baker
  • Colleen Moore
  • Marilyn Monroe
  • Lauren Bacall
  • Ginger Rogers (comes with bonus Magical Boy Fred Astaire)
  • Bette Davis
  • Joan Crawford
  • Barbara Stanwyck
  • Audrey Hepburn
  • Carole Lombard
  • Myrna Loy
  • Claudette Colbert
  • Judy Garland
  • Rita Hayworth
  • Ava Gardner
  • Ingrid Bergman
  • Vivian Leigh
  • Sofia Loren
  • Marion Davies
  • Mary Philbin
  • Olive Thomas
  • Miriam Cooper

Basically, I’ll take care of the strict comediennes, but everyone else here is fair design game! What I’m hoping to do is eventually combine our efforts into a book that we can all individually sell prints of at conventions and whatnot.

So, my fellow artists, are you interested in joining in? (Reblog, reply, message me, etc.!)

Got the magical girl outfit designed for Louise Brooks! She had the best hair, seriously.

Finished Magical Girls: Mary Pickford | Clara Bow | Lillian and Dorothy Gish

The master post of actresses and performers is here. You can add to the list or design an undesigned magical girl costume if you’d like - I’d love for this to become a bigger project that involves more people!

stop the presses I drew a goddamned airplane

I have to draw this today for the splash page of the next Historians chapter. Actually, this plane is going to appear a lot.

I cannot draw airplanes.

This is going to be interesting.

fuckyeahcharacterdevelopment:

Hello! I’m making a blog where artists and authors can find others to work with. If you need someone to collaborate with, draw your characters, or write a plot out for you, this is the place to go. If you could go to the url artistsandauthors and reblog the latest post or post this ask to get the word out, that’d be great! It’s fine if you don’t, though. Have a nice day (or night, as it may be).

This is a great idea! If anyone needs me to write a script for anything, lemme know!

Remember how on Friday I said I had another drawing on the way? This is it, finally. I haven’t gotten a chance to do art for a couple of days.

The Our Gang kids in here are, L-R, Stymie, Buckwheat, Spanky, Alfalfa and Darla. For some reason, before Stymie graduated Hal Roach decided that Buckwheat should be a girl (Stymie’s little sister) even though the actor playing him was a boy. When Stymie ‘graduated,’ Buckwheat slowly transformed into a boy.

Hal Roach was a strange, strange man.

Anyways, I drew Buckwheat as a boy even though Stymie’s there since it’s quite difficult to find pictures of him as a girl. Also, babysitting a bunch of child actors is difficult when between the two of you you’ve only got one daughter. (Lois is THE CUTEST, though.)

when an artist wants to show you their art

or a writer wants you to read what they’ve written

it’s quite often an expression of trust

because a poem or a story or a painting are often things that come from the heart

little pieces of the artists themselves

and if they’re willing to share it with you

you should appreciate it

last time I saw this I only liked it. now I am reblogging it.

I only let people who I really, really trust read Londinium. If I’ve let you read any part of it, you mean a TON to me.

I’m going to be working on catching up with ask blogs this week (particularly Ask Rogue/Wraith Squadron and Ask Junta), so go ahead and ask these idiots things too!

The cast listing is here.

I will never not reblog this, because it just gives me so many feels.

aww.

damn…

what do you mean drawn better thats the best fucking stickman ive ever seen fuck you

If my characters were sentient and saw me as ‘Mom,’ I’d be sobbing all the time and constantly telling them how proud I am of them.

Tried something different and made this sketchier and more cartoony than my usual style just for fun.

This is actually my half of an art trade with a friend from dA, but I had to share it here too because COMEDIANS.

I think Zeppo, Gummo, Shemp and Curly Joe went out to dinner somewhere to avoid this or something.

Two art trades!

The first one is a sketch trade with prancingharry - that’s her cast, and they’re adorable! (A sketch trade is like an art trade except you just do a bunch of sketches of each other’s characters instead of just one detailed drawing.)

The second one is Ren, who belongs to Peeka! Isn’t he cute?

Anyone else who wants to do one is welcome to, by the way!

They don’t take very long and I can get them done very quickly, so you wouldn’t have to plonk more than $2-$3 into my PayPal account if you want one. Just tell me what you’d like and drop a few bucks here and I’ll get to work!
